The UConn Foundation introduced Mark A. Beaudoin ’82 (BUS) of Westport, Michael Melio ’15H of Waxhaw, North Carolina, and Lincoln Millstein ’77 (CLAS) of Riverside as the three newest members to the Board of Directors on Friday, October 7.

“Lincoln, Michael, and Mark are excellent additions to the Board of Directors, both in terms of their impressive qualifications and their passion for supporting UConn,” said Josh Newton, president and chief executive officer, UConn Foundation. “Their dedication to elevating the University will be valuable to the Board moving forward.”

Beaudoin is a part of Ziff Capital Partners, after previously serving as partner and managing director at Ziff Brothers Investments, LLC in New York City. He also served as the company’s chief operating officer and treasurer. Beaudoin received his MBA from Harvard Business School in 1988 and serves as President of the Board of Trustees at Fairfield County Day School.

Melio is the president and chief executive officer of Western Piedmont Metal Incorporated and vice president of operations for United American Steel Company. In 2011, he established the Enzo Anthony Melio Scholarship at UConn, which provides financial support for undergraduate student-athletes participating in varsity sports. Melio received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from UConn in 2015, when he also served as a commencement speaker.

“I’m incredibly humbled and honored to be part of this board of this great university; and pledge to work diligently to move our agenda forward,” said Melio.

Millstein is senior vice president of Hearst Corporation and special assistant to its chief executive officer. He is recognized as a digital pioneer in newspapers, co-founding Boston.com for the Boston Globe in 1995 and running it for five years before moving to New York as executive vice president of New York Times Digital.

The Board of Directors also thanked departing member Coleman Levy ’61 (CLAS), ’62 MA, ’66 JD for his decade of work on the board, including two years of service as Board Chair. Levy was a veteran lawyer in the Greater Hartford community and a founding partner of Levy & Droney, which became a part of Hinckley Allen in 2013. For 11 seasons, he was a co-owner of the New Britain Rock Cats. Levy said it was a rewarding experience to serve on the Board.

“We are fortunate that we have people who are really dedicated to the University, and the Foundation is elevating itself to a level [that] will be absolutely beneficial to the University, to the students, and to the community,” he said. “Our University can only ascend to the stars now, and I’m just very thankful that I’ve been able to be on this wonderful board.”

“Words cannot express how grateful we are for Coleman’s contributions over the past ten years and beyond,” said Newton. “As his term on the board comes to an end, we thank him for his unwavering commitment to UConn and its students.”
