The University of Connecticut Foundation established the National Development Council in 2008 to support Our University. Our Moment. The Campaign for UConn. The campaign comes on the heels of UConn’s unprecedented physical transformation through UCONN 2000 and 21st Century UConn to round out the University’s academic and research strengths and maintain its position in the top 20 public research universities in the U.S.
The National Development Council is an exclusive coalition of like-minded alumni and friends who are committed to UConn and are directly involved with the campaign. Members include business, civil and philanthropic leaders from around the state and country who have the experience, drive and networking skills to help propel the campaign to success.
The council’s primary function is tactical, complementing the efforts of the UConn Foundation development staff by helping expand the circle of financial support for the campaign. Members provide leadership in critical aspects of fundraising, including personal giving, identifying potential donors and assisting in the solicitation of gifts. Volunteers open doors in their geographic area, alumni class, social group or workplace.
