Contributing to The Parents Fund

Participation in the Parents Fund is one area in which UConn parents can remain involved with their student’s education experience.

Your gift to the Parents Fund can help UConn’s greatest areas of need as determined by the president and senior administrators. Thousands of parents give annually to the Parents Fund for the best of reasons: to support their children’s college experience.

In the past, funds have been used for

  • projects and programs, such as freshman and senior-year experience programs
  • student activities, such as alcohol free events
  • academic programs
  • internships and study abroad programs
  • campus safety initiatives
  • cultural events
  • scholarships, and more

My dad and his brother both served in the military, and when they returned from their service they both enrolled in UConn under the veteran's plan. Fast forward many years and 3000 miles to Northern California where I have lived and raised my family. When it came time for my youngest to apply to colleges, she wanted to include UConn and I couldn't have been more surprised. The old photos, and memories, shared by her grandpa and great uncle must have had an influence on her. Once we visited, the deal was sealed. Fueled by her desire to live someplace other than California, UConn was the place that had everything she wanted. Including her 91-year old great uncle still living just a handful of miles away, a proud alum. She has found her place at UConn and we have been so impressed with the education and life experience UConn provides. That's why we support the school through the Parent's Fund, helping provide other kids with the opportunity to attend."

"Our donation is based on the fact that our daughter Sarah graduated UConn this past May with a solid education and well-rounded preparedness for the job market. She secured a very good job quickly and will likely fast track to higher level positions with her background and education provided by UConn. Sarah's brother, Thomas, is also considering UConn, among several other schools, mainly from the feedback he has received from his sister on the outstanding education level and overall college experience there. Go Huskies!!”

New UConn Parents Help Spur Giving with Matching Gift

A Measured Approach to Parenting

Our cousin graduated in 2009 and our middle son is applying in 2011. We feel so connected to the university and are proud to be a part of the UConn family. Go Huskies!!!"

Every year we are continually impressed by the quality of the education and the student and faculty community. Both of our students have had a very positive experience at UConn."

With our son now working there as an intern in Athletic Marketing, we are so happy to continue our trips to UConn after graduation. It's great that UConn helps its own graduates and he is very happy serving his alma mater. It's a great transition experience for him in a field he really wants to pursue, hopefully with a grad assistant position next year. He's happy and that makes us very happy! We are also very proud of how our son's UConn experience helped him develop into a confident, hard-working young man.”

Without these grants it would have been impossible for Steven to attend a prestigious University. We've seen our son mature into a responsible young man throughout his years at UConn. He is currently a business major and is in his senior year. We feel the need to give back and to help give others the same opportunity our son was given."

Leadership Giving At UConn

The University of Connecticut Foundation celebrates donors who give annually at the $1,000 to $25,000 level as special contributors to the ongoing quest for excellence at UConn.  Donors at the leadership level can take satisfaction that their contributions have an immediate and direct impact on the students, faculty and programs they support.

Leadership gifts may be designated for specific purposes or made to an unrestricted account such as the Parents Fund, which provide the University president with maximum flexibility in the use of the funds.

Besides the satisfaction that comes from knowing that their gifts provide a meaningfully higher level of benefits to students and faculty, leadership donors will also receive through the UConn Foundation:

  • Enhanced relationships with the University administration, faculty and programs
  • Invitations to special events and receptions
  • Recognition in the UConn Foundation’s annual Honor Roll of Donors (published online)
