For three decades, the volunteer-run tournament has been dedicated to raising money to fight cancer, and has raised more than $2 million for the UConn Health Center and the American Cancer Society. Nearly $150,000 was raised this year.

The tumor bank is an essential component the early detection of cancer, and provides specimens for scientists to pursue causes and treatment of malignancies.

Proceeds from the 2002 tournament enabled the Health Center to establish the country’s first public tumor bank. As a result of early detection and improved therapies, survival rates continue to improve every year.
