Huskies Forever Weekend Is Right Around the Corner

It’s almost time for Huskies Forever Weekend, Oct. 21-23. And from bus tours to games to performances (and don’t forget the 40th and 50th reunions for the Classes of 1976 and 1966!), there’s something for everyone.
In fact, the weekend is so jam-packed, it actually spreads over six days of great events to choose from. We prepped a few highlights, below, and you can get the full scoop and registration information on our website.
For the Get-Up-and-Goers
On Oct. 16, take part in the Huskies Forever 5K Run/Walk starting at 9 a.m. at the Alumni Center. The timed, certified, closed-course race is a wonderful opportunity to run with a friend or a team and tour the beautiful Storrs campus. Show your true-blue pride by raising money for your favorite UConn causes, enjoy music from WHUS, and meet a special guest or two! Bring the little ones: strollers are welcome.
For the Engineers
On Oct. 20, UConn Engineering hosts the Dean’s 40th and 50th Reunion Alumni Reception from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Husky Heritage Sports Museum.
For the Football Fans
On Oct. 22, your Huskies take on the University of Central Florida Knights at Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field for the 2016 homecoming game. Fire up the grill, sing along with the “Pride of Connecticut” UConn Marching Band, and cheer on Coach Diaco’s team as they aim to notch another win in what’s sure to be an exciting season.
For the Nurses
On Oct. 21, the School of Nursing Class of 1966 50th Reunion Breakfast takes place from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Widmer Wing of the School of Nursing Building. And at 2:30 there’s a Nursing Open House Patio Party in Storrs Hall Room 118 and the rooftop. (You might even hear a bit about the School of Nursing’s plans to celebrate its 75th Anniversary next year!)
For the Political Animals
On Oct. 21, the William Benton Museum of Art hosts a special tour of The Mark and Rosalind Shenkman Collection of Americana: Early Campaign Flags. You won’t want to miss this rare opportunity to see a stellar private collection.
For Everyone
Of course, there are plenty of events that everyone will enjoy, and returning home to Storrs is a fabulous way to reconnect with old friends and make some new ones. We asked Assistant Director of Alumni Events Emily Auger, who is part of the Alumni Relations team gearing up HFW, what she is looking forward to the most (besides maybe taking a nap when it’s all over!). “I can’t wait to meet all the different alumni and hear their stories. No matter the graduation year, everyone I talk to had a LOT of fun at UConn,” Emily said.
