Kyla Anne Sadler ’85 (CLAS)

Kyla Anne Sadler, 58, of Madison, NJ, passed away after a courageous multi-year battle with colon cancer on July 1, 2021.

Kyla was a senior account executive at FM Global, the multi-national commercial and industrial property mutual insurer. For the last 18 years, she was a client service team leader and primary interface with brokers and policyholders on underwriting, engineering, and claims services.  Earlier in her career, Kyla worked at WorldCom, Kemper Re, Kemper Insurance, and Aetna Casualty & Surety and lived in or near Washington, DC, Chicago, and Hartford.  She held the professional designations of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter and Associate in Reinsurance.  Throughout her career, Kyla mentored many other Black females, helping them achieve their educational and professional goals.

A Connecticut native, Kyla graduated from Hartford High School, where she was the lead cheerleader, and the University of Connecticut (BS in Marketing), where she was in a modern dance group and the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.  She was an avid UConn basketball fan and long-time supporter of the Artists Collective in Hartford.

She is survived by her adored daughter, Kai; her mother, Corrie K. Sadler of Hartford, CT; her siblings, Kym Sadler of Bloomfield, CT, Kevin Sadler of Temecula, CA, and George Sadler of Greensboro, NC; and many nieces and nephews.  Her father, Dr. George B.J. Sadler of Hartford, died in 2000.

Kyla was very grateful for her many friends in Madison, particularly in the Central Avenue Elementary and FM Global communities, and her care at Morristown Medical Center.
