Linda Putterman ’74 (Neag)

Linda Ann Putterman passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones, on June 17, 2021 after a valiant 13 year battle with Multiple Myeloma.  Linda was born in Hartford, CT, on May 16, 1952, to Charles and Josephine Kopcinski. She graduated as class valedictorian from Bloomfield High School, and was the first from her family to attend college. She completed her undergraduate studies at UConn with honors, received a masters in Spanish from Central Connecticut, and later in life, earned a certificate in hula dancing during her multiple trips to Hawaii.  Linda married the love of her life, Steve Putterman, on August 20, 1983, and they spent nearly 38 wonderful years together, loving and teasing one another.  Linda began her career in education, teaching Spanish and French at East Granby High School before taking a hiatus to raise her three children, and later returning to work at King Philip Middle School in West Hartford.  Linda was a caring and loving mother and wife, an avid animal and nature lover, a doting grandmother, and a snowman figurine aficionado with a collection that would make even Frosty jealous. Linda was known for her zest for life, which included a holiday passion of over-decorating and creating a welcoming space for friends and family alike. She was always the first on the dance floor, especially loved tap, music, and her Latin love: Ricky Martin. Her family promises to keep on dancing and decorating in her memory. Linda is survived by her beloved husband Steve Putterman; three children, Jennifer Rheuban and husband Andy, David Putterman and wife Kate, and Kimberly Orr and husband Colin; brother, Charles Kopcinski Jr. and wife Alice; three grandchildren, Abby and Joey Rheuban, and Joel Putterman; and three granddogs, Otis and Chevy Orr, and Beans Putterman.
