Carolyn Wrubel Magram ’64 (NUR)

Carolyn Wrubel Magram died peacefully on February 18, 2021 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford, CT. A resident of North Haven, CT. Carolyn was 78 years old and fought renal failure for many years.

Born and brought up in Middletown, CT she was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in 1960. Carolyn graduated from the UConn School of Nursing in 1964 and went on to attain a Masters of Education from Columbia University and became a member of the Columbia University Faculty of Medicine for several years.

Returning to Connecticut, Carolyn became the Director of Nursing at Elmcrest Psychiatric Institute in Portland, CT. Later she became a Senior Health Program Specialist on the Connecticut Commission on Hospitals and Healthcare. At Duncaster Retirement Community in Bloomfield, CT Carolyn became Director of Inpatient Services for several years.

She married Dr. Herbert Magram, an OBGYN in Middletown and Hartford. They lived in Farmington, CT and then moved to Lake Worth, FL until the love of her life passed away. Carolyn returned to CT, living in East Haven and worked as a part time Psychiatric Nurse at Yale New Haven Hospital until she retired. Several years later she moved to North Haven.

Carolyn was known for her love of politics, always having a laugh with everyone, her amazing wit, and her fluency in Yiddish and French.

Carolyn was predeceased by her husband Herb, her parents Lewis Wrubel and earlier in March of 2020 she lost her mother Muriel Wrubel. Carolyn lost a younger sister, Debra Joyce Wrubel in 1957.

Carolyn leaves behind her heartbroken sister, Gayle Wrubel Winkler and her husband Henry of Boynton Beach,FL, her adored nephew Michael Gordon and his fiancée Lauren Dawicki of Philadelphia, PA, many first, second and third loving cousins, and close friends Ann Lewia, Enjae Ostberg, Barbara Amato and Diane Petras.
