John Joseph Schrogie III ’99 (BUS)

John passed away after a brief illness in New York City on November 15, 2020.  John was born in Baltimore, MD on August 18, 1965.  His survivors include his wife, Elizabeth (nee De Waters), and their three children, Ian, Caroline, and Andrew of Moseley, VA as well as his father, Dr. John J Schrogie, Jr of Lansdale, PA.  His mother, Ann Lynne Wafford Schrogie predeceased him.

He graduated from the George School, Newtown, PA, Keene State College, Keene, NH, and earned his MBA from the University of Connecticut, Stamford, CT.  John enjoyed a long and diversified career in retail merchandising with positions at QVC, Circuit City, Shop NBC, Sears Holdings, Tiger Direct, Icahn Automotive Group, and most recently, at Adorama.  John was a passionate entrepreneur often acting as consultant or founder of a variety of concerns.  One of his earliest start-ups was Nik’s Supermarket in Moscow in the early ‘90s.  A subsequent venture brought him stateside where he worked with the oldest & largest oyster producer in the US.  At the time of his passing, he was Chief Merchandising Officer and Partner at EMA International. A tireless leader and entrepreneur, he was the author of many innovative and successful e-commerce-based merchandising programs particularly concerning electronics and food programs.
