• Thank you for your interest in volunteering! Below are our short term volunteer opportunities that are currently available:


    Volunteer at the annual Torch Lighting Convocation Ceremony
    • Greet our newest Huskies at this special tradition to kick off the academic year. This official welcome event for first-year students marks the only time that the entire entering undergraduate class gathers as one. Alumni volunteers will distribute candles to be used during the ceremony.
    • Timeline: Friday, August 23, 2024; 6:15 – 8:45pm
    • Location: Storrs Campus

    Volunteer at the annual OOzeball Tournament
    • Experience UConn’s muddiest tradition behind the scenes! Alumni volunteers will assist with setup, checking in student players, handing out T-shirts and other giveaways, breakdown, and other tasks. You will volunteer alongside current students and staff, and all volunteers will receive an OOzeball T-shirt.
    • Timeline: Saturday, April 2025; two daytime shifts will be available

    Volunteer at the annual Senior Send-Off Celebration
    • Welcome UConn’s newest graduates to the alumni family at our annual Senior Send-Off, a celebratory party with food trucks, music, giveaways, and more. Alumni volunteers will assist with setup, handing out giveaways, breakdown, and other tasks. You will volunteer alongside current students and staff.
    • Timeline: Friday, May 2, 2025; 3 – 7 p.m.

    Be a name reader at a CLAS Commencement ceremony
    • Be a part of CLAS graduation by volunteering to be a name reader at one of the three commencement ceremonies. We are looking for 4 readers per session or, if you are interested in participating in multiple sessions, that is also welcome. Regalia will be provided.
    • Timeline: Sunday, May 11, 2025

    Mentor CLAS students through the Women’s Leadership Collective
    • Women face unique challenges as they enter the workforce and advance in leadership positions. The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is leveraging the power of women through this collective. Join a network of uplifting and powerful women by participating in a year-long mentorship program that aligns undergraduate CLAS students with mentors with similar career interests. You will have the ability to connect with other mentors and students through group mentorship circles and monthly meetings focused on key issues that affect women in the workplace and society.
    • Timeline: Launches every fall
    • Location: Storrs Campus

    Mentor first generation CLAS students
    • This year-long program is an opportunity for alumni who were first generation CLAS students to provide guidance and support to current first generation CLAS students. From September to April, meet monthly with your paired student to discuss key issues in the workplace and use the skills, tools, and life lessons you’ve learned to help a student along in their journey.

    Become a Crowdfunding Champion
    • Promote crowdfunding initiatives like Ignite (Fall and February through early March) and UConn Gives (mid-April) through your social media channels

    Thank a UConn Gives Donor
    • Partner with UConn Foundation staff to personally thank on campus faculty and staff who participated in UConn Gives
    • Timeline: Late April/Early May

    Participate in a UConn Cares event
    • UConn Cares is a celebration of Husky pride and spirit through volunteering in your local community.
