On Saturday, July 11, the UConn Foundation welcomed 30 volunteers to its first-ever Volunteer Summer Social.

Throughout the year, these volunteers have dedicated their time and energy to hosting programs in their networks, supporting campus events, mentoring students, and creating meaningful connections across the UConn community.

UConn alum Andrew Marone ’07 (CLAS), ’10 MA traveled to Peru through the Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms program, where he worked with high school seniors while researching how students develop identity in light of indigenous, national, and global influences.

“UConn gave us so much.”

For Rocky Brown ’74 (CLAS) and Vivian Vitale ’75 (CLAS), that means a marriage, lifelong friendships, meaningful careers, and a deep sense of gratitude. Watch their story and hear why giving back to UConn feels like another gift.

On Thursday, June 25th, UConn’s New Haven Alumni Network hosted a Summer Social at Barcade.

Led by Dr. Robert Bird, the experience offered students a firsthand look at the power of the Husky network abroad.

As part of the Because of UConn Conversation Series, UConn alumni joined Professor Manisha Sinha in Philadelphia for a guided tour of historic sites tied to the Declaration of Independence, followed by a discussion on its lasting impact ahead of its 250th anniversary this July.

Some Huskies head to Florida for the sunshine, but we know they’re really there for volunteers like Adrienne Pollard '95 (CLAS).

A constant source of Husky pride, Adrienne brings alumni together year-round, creating opportunities to connect and cheer on both our Men’s and Women’s basketball teams.

And her impact goes far beyond game day. Most recently, she led a group of alumni in a service project at Feeding Tampa Bay, where they helped sort and package food and essential supplies for those in need.

Her passion, leadership, and commitment to giving back truly embody what it means to be a Husky, making the Sunshine State an even brighter place to be.

Thank you, Adrienne.
